Traditional Maharashtrian Ukadiche Modak Recipe
Ukadiche Modak is one of Maharashtra's most cherished festive sweets and the favorite offering of Lord Ganesha.
Ingredients
For the Dough

1 cup Kelve Modak Pith

1¼ cups water

1 teaspoon ghee

Pinch of salt
For the Filling

1 cup fresh grated coconut

¾ cup jaggery

½ teaspoon cardamom powder
Method
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
Cook coconut and jaggery together on low heat. Add cardamom powder and allow the mixture to cool.
Step 2: Prepare the Dough
Boil water with salt and ghee. Add Kelve Modak Pith and mix well. Cover and rest for 5 minutes.
Step 3: Knead
While still warm, knead into a smooth dough.
Step 4: Shape the Modaks
Create small cups from the dough, fill with the coconut mixture, and make pleats.
Step 5: Steam
Steam for 10–15 minutes until cooked.
